1910-D $20 St. Gaudens Gold NGC MS63 Old Holder |

Here is a 1910-D $20 St. Gaudens Gold Double Eagle which has been graded MS63 by NGC in an early version 2.1 NGC holder. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. The NGC generation 2.1 holder featured a plain borderless white label and the golden NGC logo on the reverse of the slab which was applied to the inside of the plastic holder (instead of being raised up on the plastic on the outside surface of the holder as was the case with the version 2.0 holders). The holder is also slightly thicker than a modern NGC holder and is typically called a "fatty" holder. Not only is this a very collectible early NGC holder, but the coin itself is amazing for the assigned grade. This double eagle has a very bright and even gold color, strong original luster and the coin has relatively few marks compared to the average coin graded MS63 in more current holders. A terrific example for the grade in an early collectible NGC holder. |
