Here is an 1888 $2.5 Liberty Gold Quarter Eagle has been graded AU58 by PCGS. The coin has really bright lustrous surfaces on both sides and has the look of a mint state piece, though there is just a hint of rub on the high point of the design that limits the technical grade of the coin. The color is a bright gold that is free of spotting or other distractions. There are several light marks and scratches, in the fields in particular, though none are major. Only 16,001 quarter eagles were minted in 1888 and this is a wonderful overall example of the date. |
