Here is a 1942-D/D D/Horizontal D Jefferson Nickel which has been graded AU55 by PCGS. The 1942-D/Horizontal D Jefferson Nickel is a popular variety that has been listed in the Red Book of U.S. Coins for many years and is always in high demand. This variety has also be attributed on the PCGS label as the FS-501 variety as it is listed in the popular Cherrypicker's Guide. The coin is moderately toned and has very nice original mint luster. The color is a medium golden color and the coin shows just a touch of handling wear on the high points of the design. There are also several light hits and marks scattered about the coin which likely prevent a higher numerical grade. An overall great looking lightly circulated example of this popular early Jefferson Nickel variety.
