1950-Mo Mexico 5 Pesos Opening of Southern Railroad PCGS MS64 SOLD
1950-Mo Mexico 5 Pesos Opening of Southern Railroad PCGS MS64
The 1950 Mexico 5 Peso coin commemorates the opening of the Southern Railroad. Records show that 200,000 of these coins were minted, but it is believed that more than half of that total mintage was ultimately melted for other coinage needs. This example of the 1950-Mo Mexico Southern Railroad Silver 5 Pesos has been graded MS64 by PCGS. This is a popular low-mintage one-year only type coin featuring a detailed locomotive design. The coin is bright white with no toning and exhibits wonderful cartwheel luster on both sides. The coin is also well struck and shows full details. Just a couple of light marks including one hit near the mintmark seemingly kept the coin from receiving a higher grade. A beautiful near-gem example of this popular type coin.
