The 1933-1934 Century of Progress Exposition held in Chicago was a successful World’s Fair held during the Great Depression. Many tokens and medals were produced in connection with the Century of Progress Exposition. This example of the 1933 Italian Exhibit Dollar from the Century of Progress Expo is listed as HK-471a in the Hibler-Kappen reference on So-Called Dollars. This 1933 HK-471a Medal has been graded MS63 by NGC. The Italian Exhibit Dollar has a beautiful high-relief design of a building with many airplanes on one side and a male and female figure raising a torch above the Chicago skyline on the other side. The medal has wonderful overall eye appeal. The only issues of note are some very minor spotting that is found under a close inspection. A die cracks also runs from the rim up through the airplanes. A wonderful high relief choice uncirculated example of the so-called Italian Exhibit Dollar. |
