1780 Austria Taler NGC PF66 Maria Theresa Restrike SOLD
1780 Austria Taler NGC PF66 Maria Theresa Restrike
The 1780 Maria Theresa Silver Taler is an official modern restrike issued by the Austrian Mint and is referred to by some as the World’s Most Famous Silver Coin. Both mint state and proof specimens are struck each year, but all newly struck coins retain the 1780 date. This proof example of the 1780 Maria Theresa Silver Taler restrike has been graded PF66 by NGC and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin is brilliantly struck and shows amazing detail. The coin is also lightly toned with an appealing blue-grey color which is focused more so around the rim of the coin. The high points of the coin and obverse portrait show some cameo contrast as well which further adds to the overall eye appeal of this piece. There are no significant marks or hits or other issues to note. A beautiful proof example of this popular silver restrike.
