1918 Illinois/Lincoln Half PCGS MS66+ |

This is a beautiful high-grade example of the 1918 Illinois Commemorative Half Dollar which is referred to as the Lincoln Commemorative Half Dollar by some. This 1918 Illinois/Lincoln Commemorative Half Dollar has been graded MS66+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. The coin has very strong cartwheel luster on both sides and is quite flashy. The coin also has attractive colorful toning on both sides, particularly attractive for this issue which is often found untoned. The obverse toning covers a good portion of the fields with a golden, orange and blue color that concentrates near the rims. The reverse features some pretty rim toning with the same vibrant colors that is quite eye appealing. There are a few scattered light marks which can be found under a close inspection, but they are hardly noticeable as the luster and color of this piece dominate. Please note that this coin is much brighter and more colorful than my photos show as my photos of this lustrous piece unfortunately came out somewhat dark. An especially eye appealing high-grade example of one of the most popular classic commemoratives. |
