This is one of the most stunning cents I have had
in my possession! This is a 1912 Matte Proof Lincoln Cent graded PR65RB
by PCGS. Only 2,172 proof cents were minted in 1912. Despite the
relatively high mintage for a matte proof, the 1912 is one of the better
dates, particularly in gem grades and higher. Given the superb eye
appeal of this example, I would imagine that there are not too many 1912
proof cents out there that could better this coin in overall eye
appeal. The coin is spot free and free of any noteworthy marks or
hits. But the color of this coin is just out of this world. Both sides
of this piece are completely covered in wonderful iridescent colors
which cover just about every color in the rainbow. The eye appeal is
just furthered because of the strong luster which pops off of the matte
surfaces and really allows those colors to come to life. Of course, as
with any proof coin, the colors mostly pop when tilted just right in the
light. A TrueView photo was taken by PCGS which captures the beauty of
this coin in the best light. Higher resolution copies of the image
(nearly 5x the size provided below) are available on the PCGS website.
Overall, this coin is an amazing matte proof and would be the star of
most collections. |
