Here is an 1878-CC Morgan Silver Dollar which has been graded MS64DMPL by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. As the DMPL designation suggests, this coin is fully proof-like on both sides with deeply mirrored fields and frosty devices. The coin has also been certified by CAC as being solid for the assigned grade. Deep mirror proof like designated Carson City coins from the first year of Morgan Silver Dollar production are not common. This example has some light hits and marks scattered about, seemingly just a few too many on Liberty’s cheek in particular to warrant a higher grade. That said, the coin has tremendous eye appeal and is a great example of this first year Carson City DMPL Morgan Dollar.
Because of the difficulty in capturing the overall look of the coin in a single image, I have also included a short high-definition video of the coin towards the bottom of this listing in an attempt to give you a better idea of what this coin will look like in hand. Please note that you may need to adjust the video quality to 1080p and may need to increase the size of the video to full screen in order to see the coin in maximum detail. |
