The Isabella Quarter Dollar is the first and only commemorative quarter dollar in the classic commemorative series. The Isabella Quarter Dollar is the first United States coin to feature the image of an actual woman, Queen Isabella of Spain, and is also the first United States coin to feature the image of a foreign monarch. Compared to the 2.5 million Columbian Halves produced for the same exposition, the mintage of Isabella Quarters is ultra low with only 24,214 coins produced. This example of the 1893 Isabella Quarter Dollar has been graded G06 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of their newer-style edge-view holders. Despite the relatively low mintage, Isabella Quarters are not rare. However, it is not often you find an example with so much circulation wear that does not have any problems and which has so much eye appeal. The darkened fields and the lighter worn devices give the coin a wonderful circulated cameo effect. No significant hits or other marks are noted. A low grade example of the Isabella Quarter with tons of eye appeal. |
