Here is an interesting looking 1926 Sesquicentennial of American Independence Commemorative Half Dollar which has been graded MS63+ by PCGS and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The obverse depicts the first President of the United States, George Washington, alongside the then-current President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge. The reverse shows a very nice rendition of the Liberty Bell. This coin has above-average luster for the issue, which is likely the reason the coin received the plus designation from PCGS. The coin is also moderately toned, particularly on the obverse with a mostly red-brown toning that transitions to a deep blue near the rims. While the toning is not uniform across the coin, it appears to be original and gives the coin a nice overall look. The coin has only a few minor hits scattered about, but no major distractions. I believe this coin is a very strong example of the Sesquicentennial Commemorative Half with a neat original look. |
