1925 Norse Medal Thick NGC MS65 |

Although it is technically not part of the classic commemorative series, many collectors of classic commemoratives collect the 1925 Norse American Centennial Medal and include it with their collections. At the time the Norse Medal was contemplated, there was an attempt to seek an actual coin (most likely a half dollar) for their centennial celebration. However, getting Congress to approve the issuance of the piece as a medal and not a coin proved much easier. The medals are also hugely popular because of their eye-catching octagonal design. This example of the 1925 Norse Medal has been graded MS65 by NGC and has been struck on a thick silver planchet. The piece is very bright and has lots of original luster. Although mostly bright and white, there is a faint bit of colorful toning on this coin near parts of the rim. Please note that the piece itself is a little brighter in hand than the photos suggest. This is an overall very eye appealing gem example of the Norse Medal. |
