This 1916-D Mercury Dime has been graded AG03 by PCGS and is encapsulated in one of the newer-style edge-view holders. As the lowest-mintage dime of the entire Mercury Dime series, the coin has always been a popular key-date amongst collectors, even when the coin is in lower grades as is the case with the present specimen. Because of its popularity, the 1916-D Mercury Dime is one of the most counterfeited coins in the market, so purchasing a certified piece like the one offered here is especially important. This coin is a decent looking coin for the low grade. While it is clear that the piece has heavy circulation wear, there are no major problems like spotting, scratches or large hits. The obverse has some moderate toning and nearly a full rim remains. The reverse is slightly lighter in color and a full and bold mintmark is present. A very nice example for the grade of this key-date Mercury Dime. |
