Here is an 1858 Seated Liberty Half Dollar which has been graded MS65 by NGC and is encapsulated in a newer-style edge-view holder. The obverse of this coin is bright white and lustrous. There are some light marks, including a couple of marks on Liberty’s face, which likely prevented a higher grade. The reverse of the coin is fully toned with a medium orange and blue-grey toning in the center which transitions to a more vibrant blue near the rim, particularly at the bottom of the design. The reverse of the coin is nearly flawless and very attractive. To date, only three (3) examples of this date have graded higher at NGC, a pair of coins grading MS66 and a single MS67. A wonderful and well struck gem example of the No Motto Seated Liberty Half Dollar. |
