The 1853 Type One Gold Dollar is one of the most common dates in the series. That said, they remain very collectible and this example is really nice for the grade. This 1853 Type One Gold Dollar has been graded MS61 by NGC. The coin is a very nice even bright gold color with nice luster and no spotting or other major distractions. The obverse has some small hits as you would expect in a lower uncirculated grade, but none are major. The reverse also has some small hits that are insignificant, but there are also a few larger marks near the center of the design that are of note and likely limited the grade of the coin as the overall look of the coin is that of a higher graded example. Overall, the coin is a nice uncirculated type one Gold Dollar that is even better looking in hand than my photos even begin to show. |
