This 1863 Mrs. A. Thomson & Son Civil War Store Card from Indianapolis Indiana has been graded MS64BN by NGC and is encapsulated in the newer-style edge-view holder. This token is attributed as F-460U-3a as referenced on the label. This is one of the rare Civil War store cards issued by a female merchant. Anna Thomson and her son William were office goods merchants during the Civil War. The obverse with the Indian Head design has very strong eye appeal with booming luster and purple and blue toning. The strike is very strong and there are very few marks or hits that are noticed. The reverse also shows some lovely blue and purple toning with some original red color near the letters. Again, no major marks or issues of note. A beautiful example of this tough issue. |
